ABOUT ME
Marie-Louise Katsikare MBACP
Counsellor in Kingston Upon Thames

I have an extensive professional background in private practice and in the NHS which has given me experience and insight into personal, family and professional difficulties.
As a person-centred therapist, I facilitate the sessions by listening without judgement and acknowledging your experiences and emotions you are feeling. I will guide the therapeutic process without interrupting or interfering with your process of self-discovery. I also follow a psychodynamic approach to explore any childhood experiences that might affect your current thinking and behaviour. By looking at past experiences we will be able to make connections that will enable you to make informed choices about what behaviours you would like to change.
I primarily hold sessions face to face, but I also have availability for Skype sessions.
I am fluent in Greek and advanced in German and able to hold sessions in these languages.
I am bound by the ethics of good practice from the BACP and as such require ongoing supervision and continual professional development
In any given moment, we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety.

WHY IS COUNSELLING USEFUL?
At times we go through difficulities in our lives and this can lead to experiencing anxienty, depression, anger or grief. This could be due to work stress, a bereavement, a breakdown in relationship or family difficulties. You could also be having these feelings and feel that they aren't connected to one specific event.
In these cases it is usefull to have safe and confidential space in which to explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental environment.
